Tennessee Academic Standards for Fine Arts and the Educational Touring Theatre

Along with helping students meet many of Tennessee’s Standards for Science, Educational Touring Theatre performances serve as a great springboard for educators to address Academic Standards for Fine Arts. ETT performances are professionally developed, fully staged theatrical presentations. Performed by an Actor’s Equity Association union actor and utilizing costumes, props, and sets, these presentations are a great introduction to live theatre performance.

Tennessee’s Academic Standards for Fine Arts are organized by artistic discipline, and then broken down into Domains, Foundations, and finally specific Standards for each grade level. Educational Touring Theatre performances fit in the Theatre
discipline and can help educators address standards in the “Respond” and “Connect” Domains. With preparation prior to attending your Educational Touring Theatre performance coupled with post-show discussion, you can help your students address the following Fine Arts Standards. Each Domain will be followed by the Foundation and grade level Standard.
